FAQS
1. MY SHADE SAIL IS OLD AND DIRTY CAN I CLEAN IT?
Dependent on the age and condition of the sail, if the sail appears at its end of life, then a new shade sail is required. If shade sail is in good condition use a gentle detergent so not to damage the UV properties, pressure wash with a 100kpa pressure washer, commencing 4 metres distance from the fabric and moving closer to self-determine the optimum distance for effective cleansing. Hose off all detergents at completion.
If you use harsh chemicals like Chlorine you will void the warranty
2. WHEN DO I NEED TO TIGHTEN MY SHADE SAIL? (MAINTENANCE)
It is recommended to check the tension every 6 - 12 months, if it appears loose and flaps excessively in the wind, then check the tension. JIEOL recommend safety cables be installed to every point of attachment as a safety measure.
3. WHAT WARRANTY IS OFFERED FOR A SHADE SAIL.
Once a shade sail has been installed by JIEOL, you will receive 7-10 years UV degradation warranty on the shade cloth (supplier dependant), and 7 years warranty against powder coating fading.
JIEOL offers a 7-year steel fabrication warranty. All warranties are under normal conditions, if you receive damage to your shade sail during a storm, this will fall under storm damage on your home insurance.
We recommend that your sails be taken down if you have warnings of a heavy storm to avoid damage.
4. HOW MUCH UV PROTECTION CAN WE EXPECT WITH OUR SHADE SAIL
Commercial quality shade cloth range from 64% up to 97% shade.
Unless instructed otherwise by the manufacturer our standard cloth blocks 78% to 99% depending on colour choice.
5. CAN I REMOVE THE SAIL DURING WINTER?
Yes, it is recommended to prolong the life of the shade sail, you may wish to remove the sail to allow more light into an area during the colder months. Ensure your shade sail is kept in a dry safe place to prevent mould and rolled up nice and tight for storage.
Only experienced installers should remove the tensioned fabric and reinstall shade sails to optimum tensions.
